Gathering Status Update - October 24

Worship Ministries

Our hope is that the worship ministries at FGMB would lead you into the presence of the Lord to worship God with all of your heart. In doing so we pray that you would:

  • Encounter God
  • Fellowship in community
  • Bring an offering
  • Be transformed

Worship Ministry at FGMB encompasses many different elements and forms for our Sunday gatherings and special events. These include music, spoken word, drama, visual arts, and technical support.

Music

Worship music teams lead worship every Sunday morning. Teams are made up of a leader, male and female vocalists, guitar, piano and percussion artists. Teams practice once during the week and meet 1 hour prior to the Sunday morning service to rehearse and set up. Please email (worship@fgmb.ca) if you are interested in joining a team or forming a new team of musicians.

Special Music

A music ministry committee coordinates and plans special music opportunities throughout the year. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and communions will all have special elements of music as part of their celebration at FGMB. We also seek people’s musical giftings to provide music during preludes and offerings 1-2x/month during Sunday gatherings. Email worship@fgmb.ca if you feel called to serve in this capacity.

Spoken Word

A worship leader facilitates the worship gathering each Sunday, creating an inviting engaging environment for all to worship. He or she leads the congregation in prayer, the reading of scripture, and provides updates for where members of the congregation can connect and serve in the community life of FGMB.

Drama Team

Dramas occur from time to time in order to enhance the theme and message for the morning worship gathering or special event occurring that week. Lately, we have missed having dramas as part of our gatherings and so if you have a passion for the dramatic, contact worship@fgmb.ca.

Visual Arts

Visuals enhance worship. Art in the form of paintings, front of church displays, lighting forms, or from the organization of congregational artistic participation during Sunday morning gatherings is added and developed with each new worship series at FGMB. If you are artistic and would like to be a part of the visual arts team, please contact worship@fgmb.ca.

Technical Support

There are a large number of volunteers that ensure the technical aspects of our worship gatherings run as smoothly as possible. This involves sound engineering including the set up of microphones and monitors and operating the soundboard. Video projection operators develop worship slides and operate the projector for all videos displayed in our gatherings.

We are currently developing a media team to assist with the production of weekly announcement videos, to develop a social media presence and to help to manage our website.

Experience is not essential to be part of a tech team but it is helpful to have developed an interest in the tech realm. We will provide training to those with a strong commitment and desire for the technical side of worship and who possess keen attention to detail. Please email worship@fgmb.ca.

Gathering Status

We have returned to a two-service format for our Sunday Worship Gatherings at Fort Garry MB Church. The first service at 9:30 a.m. will be open to everyone who is fully vaccinated. The second service at 11:00 a.m. will be open to everyone regardless of vaccination status. We will continue to have a Sunday morning Livestream Worship Service at 9:30 am on our Youtube channel.

Worship Gathering FAQ Sheet

We remain committed to taking a cautious approach to reopening and will continue the use of masks for all persons attending our indoor worship gatherings as recommended in the current health orders. Our staff and Church Council leadership will continue to monitor and discern an appropriate response in the coming weeks as circumstances continue to change.

Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 9-4. However, we do still recommend that you email or call ahead as some staff may be out of the office. Please contact the church office for further information regarding the use of the church facility for meetings or activities.
